Why Teach?

I want to tutor because I know personally how helpful a good tutoring session can be for understanding major concepts and figuring out tricky parts of course material. If I have the knowledge and experience to help another student succeed at a class then I want to utilize it, especially at Berkeley where the academic climate is so competitive. I think Penji is an awesome way for students who are fresh out of some difficult classes to help out other students in a personal and effective way. Students who have recently taken a course definitely know the tips and tricks to succeed.

Background?

I'm from San Diego, and I absolutely love (and miss) the beach and burritos. I have always enjoyed biology and sciences throughout high school, but I decided I wanted to go further and do something I never had the chance to study before college--engineering. There is a large gender gap in engineering, so I'm really excited to be a woman in engineering and to help spread interest in engineering in young girls. Bioengineering sounded like the perfect opportunity to combine my interests, and so far I love it!

Interests?

My favorite foods in Berkeley are Pad See-Ew from Thai Basil, the Pengpeng chicken from Famous Bao, and avocado toast from Romeo's (get it with egg and it will change your life). When I'm procrastinating, I usually watch The Office or New Girl, or I'll read (a book I recently read and loved is Bad Feminist by Roxanne Gay). My all-time favorite movies are Creed, Captain America, and She's the Man (so bad that it's good!).

Plans?

As of now, I'm looking to go into the biotech industry after I graduate. I would love to stay in California and ultimately achieve my life's goal of getting a Great Dane puppy
